Kieran,
I'd much prefer a command line utility.
I have 5 DDARs/Rios, but only 1 Pronto.
I hope, long term, to have a wireless web brower in each room with a
DDAR. (Mix of webpads, iPaqs, old laptops...)
I love my Pronto, but where it really comes into its own is in the main
system where it controls everything. In the other rooms where the only
source is a DDAR, I'd rather a more general web-browsing device, and
don't need the "control anything by IR" that the Pronto excells
at.

Kieran,
Well, I'd prefer not to have to spend any money ;-)
I've done (i), but don't like it.
I'll look for (ii) - any URLs?
I'm awaiting (iii) eagerly ;-)
I don't have the knowledge to do (iv).

Mark,
Rather than spending the money a couple of ideas spring to mind:
i. The displayserver hack?
ii. VNC? Theres references to VNC control of the dell unit on the
rioreceiver.comms.net board.
iii. Wait for me to complete the windows hack for my pronto software ;-)
iv. Take the displayserver servlet apart, work out the links into the
player
(which is almost definitely done over a socket connection using a simple
protocol) and then write your own command line utility in java.
Im happy to work on iii and for that matter id quite like to start
thinking
about iv so I can use mine for an alarm clock.
k.
