I
bought some shelf brackets from a local family DIY store for 19p
each.
I
needed 60 for a huge shelving project. The shop only had 30 so I went to
B&Q to get the rest, but the identical brackets were 60p
each!!!
So I
asked them to match the price and they did - they took at 60+%
cut
in
their price without even questioning it... that was before their official
price
promise though, so I didn't get the extra 10% off... but i was
stunned
not only
that
they'd take the cut but also the markup they must be making in the
first
place
assuming the 19p price turns a profit.
I
was
under the impression though that the Price Promise was restricted to
certain product lines.
No
doubt a certain B&Q involved list member can enlighten me on this
one

If you also find the same product cheaper at
Wickes or Homebase, you can get it much cheaper at B&Q with their price
promise +10%. My local Homebase and B&Q are very close together and I
do
this quite a lot. B&Q also price match for their own warehouse prices.
It
is amazing the difference in prices between the 2.
