You can use Remote Disconnection Utility (RDU) for that purpose. It's free and I use it a couple of years already. It works fine. I used it with analogue modem, ISDN modem and ADSL modem now. All without problems.
On machine with modem, you choose during setup that it's server, on all the other machines that it's client.
From clients, you can both connect and disconnect modem on server.
Also, you can configure to send pop-up message to other clients when you want to disconnect, which gives them 30 sec (configurable) to decline your request because they still need internet connection.
It can connect on demand, and even it gives you a list of all dial-up connections, so you can choose whether you want to connect to i.e. freeserve, or office RAS server.
You'll find it on www.twiga.ltd.uk
One of those little utils, I cannot live without anymore.
Cheers,
Nik
