The LAN virtual serial connectors take serial data from a specific
device and forward over a LAN to a Homeseer plugin. There is no
generic serial emulation at the Homeseer end - so it won't extend
just any old serial port. However, extending the concept to allow
generic com port emulation shouldn't be impossibly difficult -
especially if MS happen to have included some good examples in their
DDK (device driver kit). If you don't find an off-the-shelf solution,
I'm more than willing to have a go at this. Let me know what platform
is a priority.
