I think this was some time early last year. Cant remember the number but I seem to recall Mike Huggins advised me to contact Philips head office in the uk, from there I asked for the tapes and accessories department.

I wasn't exactly hoping for much, I would have been pleased just to be offered a replacement display, when I spoke to the lady I was told they hadn't really decided what the policy was for repairs yet, even when I told her I had a US model and it was easily over a year old anyway she still told me to send it in.

I was almost shocked when they replaced it, don't know whether they still do this bit it's got to be worth a try though.

Do you have a number for them?  I still have the US one (sentimental value) so could have one upstairs & one downstairs.....

How long ago was this?  They might have changed their policy by now...... :?

cheers,

When I dropped my US model I phoned philips uk to ask if they could supply spares or repair it.

surprisingly not only did they offer to look at it FOC, they actually replaced it with a brand new uk model.

Yup.  Mine has been knocked to the ground countless times by SWMBO, kids, me

after a few beers etc.

And it survived every single one - apart from the last :(

Screen cracked & only replacements were ones which may/may not work with my

model & would have cost about 80 quid from the states.

So..... I had to buy a UK model from Richer Sounds for 150 quid - rather

that than chance the 80 quid and end up with a dud.

I _swear_ it's not as sensitive as my original US model :-(

Yeah, except had just claimed accidental damage to my LD player, which was

subsequently replaced with a decent DVD player to replace my Panny A110.

Thought it might look a bit dodgy with 2 claims so close together :-}
