This sounds similar to a known bug in the software. If you select the
channel you are already watching, TiVo gets confused and puts up that
display. Simply choose another channel (or the same channel again) to
fix it.

Other than the software bug, I've not had TiVo ever report a signal loss
so its not normal. Are you running the 2.5 software?
