A = Straight through
B = Cross Over Cable.

Almost always A in standard CAT5 wirring, however B is used to go from
hub to hub or in a 2 PC link (i.e PC to PC, no hub.) (Also note that
many hubs/switches have a port that can be switched and thus an A cable
can be used as it crosses the pairs internally instead.)

In the Dick Smith Catalogue they show both plugs and as mentioned B has
a crossover . They described it like the rs232 null modem cable
(hopefully i got that right) . A would normally be used and B would be
used on one end of a cat5 going between two computers .Thats how i read
it?
