Re: OT Software ??

Ian,

Know how to program ?????

This can be achieved fairly easily in either C, Perl and do doubt other
languages.  I am presently working on some code to link a set of I/O modules
(Serial Port) to a TCP/IP port via a hacked up 486 laptop.

Whilst not ready yet (SWMBO up the duff so spending mucho time looking after
kids etc) I'm happy to point you in the right direction if you want to have a
bash.

Hi folks

Does anyone know if software exists that does the following ?

1) Provides a transparent RS232 link over a TCP/IP network. i.e. Modem at one
end plugs into machine 1 serial port, anything received from the modem sent over
tcp/ip. Machine 2 receives data from machine 1 over TCP/IP and sends said data
to serial port and vice versa.

2) Provide a transparent duplex audio link over a TCP/IP network. i.e. what ever
goes into line in of machine 1 comes out of line out of machine 2 and vice
versa.

I'm looking at linking an unmanned site in a different manner than we normally
do.

Thank you and sorry for the OT post. (although could have HA potential me
thinks!)

Ian D
