Mark assures me that this can be on topic as my TV is a HomeVision
monitor ;-)

Anyway, I need to get a TV to use in the lounge at times when the
projector is not being used. It will be used for basic TV/Tivo
viewing so widescreen and fancy sound are not a necessity.

The biggest sticking point is going to be WAF. Having spent 18 months
without a full size TV in the lounge, it is now no longer acceptable
to lose lots of floor space. Width and height are not a real problem,
but depth is. Currently, in the place where the TV will go, there is
an old 14" TV, a centre speaker and a Tivo and Orla does not want
anything coming out beyond that.

So I need to find a TV that is a reasonable size for viewing
(including reading Teletext and Tivo menus) from about 12 feet away
and yet is as slimline as possible. Budget is quite flexible (I
think!) but certainly does not stretch to LCD or plasma. I would want
svideo and rgb inputs at the back and if possible would prefer the TV
to be black rather than silver.

I have had a quick look at www.empiredirect.co.uk and the seem to
have 'known' brand 28/29" 4:3 TVs from about 250 to 500 including
VAT. The 28" WS are 600 upwards and the 32" WS are 750 upwards. I
think that 750 is probably stretching the budget a bit and anyway 32"
WS seem to be significantly deeper than the others. I am a bit
worried that 28" WS might be a bit small for 4:3 viewing so on
balance it looks like 29" 4:3 is the way to go, but I have no idea
what make, model or supplier is best.

Any ideas out there?

Regards

Graham
