>Hope Fatherhood is treating you well ;)
So far so good. You have no idea how pleased I am that we fathers cannot
breast feed the little one!!

Indeed this is the IR extender project.

>I assume you are using a PIC in each receiver to decode the IR signal and

Yes to this bit.

>to a master device which
>can then transmit to the destination.
No, not really. Since this is a multi master bus (485) I plan to have the
devices transmitting either to a PC based node or a generic IR broadcast.
This choice would be set by jumper and gives more flexibility. Each node
would have an ID so the PC base app would know where the signal originated
(zoned input). If any node received a broadcast message it would just
transmit it. Since each node has an address the PC based app could send a
signal to a specific node for transmission (zoned output). Cool, we even get
error detection and correction as part of the package once I have written
it.

>The master device controlling the
>transmissions of each PIC to prevent collisions?
No, the PIC's and PC app would decide when the bus was free and transmit
accordingly.

>of registers for the data
Already sorted. I just had to double the number I had initially available
which was a programming task only. I am starting work on the SNAP protocol
side of things now. I have some partially working code which I need to
modify but that is very time consuming.
Soon........ish.........maybe.........
