You
just plug jour phone line in patching panel and then plug phone in network
socket. So you'll use Cat5 for phone line and any network point can be used
as
phone point. That's how I use it (and most of the
people)
Of
course, you'll need adaptors for converting BT plug into RJ45 and vice
versa.
You
can find some at www.videk.co.uk. Try
product code: 42824283
and you'll see the
picture.
It's
under UTP/STP system components/voice network
accessories.
Cheers,
Nik
I know there has been a lot of posts in the
past
about BT telephone wiring over CAT5. I've had a search but couldn't
find
the right info...
I've now got most of the structured CAT5
cabling
in place and am starting the (really tedious) job of terminating it to
the
patch panels (3 x 48 way). What's the best way of wiring the phone
lines
so that I can use the patch panel to route a line to any of the
outlets? Do you simply daisy-chain the incoming line to several
patch
panel ways and then patch to the relevant outlet? Also, is there a
standard for colour coding i.e. which wires/pins on the CAT5 correspond
to
the BT numbering
system.
Thanks,
Paul.
