Weather station serial output

Hi fellow bargain hunters

Has anyone who either bought the weather station mentioned on the list a
week ago or so or has one anyway played with the serial output. I was
reading the manual (shock horror) and it said the PC software was optional
and of course an extra I guess. All I really gained was that the data was
output every 10 seconds  at 9600 bps. Natuarally the unit is still in
the box due to lack of time so no Hyper Terminal feedback yet.

Any info on this serial output would be much apprecited.

I want to be able to log things like rainfall over a time period so I can
then decide whether to turn on the irrigation for example. Get rid of that
pesky on or off flag I have now to control it.
