RE: DAC

Erm.... except it's phono, not optical only :-(

Still stand by the s/h Meridian suggestion, though :-)

Tony,

How about an Arcam delta? Currently available second-hand for =A335 on a &q= uot;buy it now" auction?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3D1361844820

Failing that, Meridian DACS come up on eBay fairly regularly...

Regards,

Mark

Subject: [ukha_d] DAC

The word on the street is that the Audiotron analogue output sounds
pants.
Sounds ok to me, but then I haven't compared it to the optical out -
yet.
I will be doing this real soon now and expect to be pissed at the
analogue, given that every other bugger is.
So... my surround amp, used for the lounge, accepts optical and I can
get funky sound there, but the Linn multiroom only takes analogue - as
indeed will the KAT 5 switcher when it arrives.
How do I get funky sound throughout the house then?
My thought is that I need to split the optical output in two - one feed
directly to the surround amp, the other to a digital to analogue
converter to plug into the multiroom.

My questions then are:  Does anyone know of an optical splitter that I= 'd
need, and indeed does anyone know of a reasonably priced DAC that will
do a decent job.

Note: I am _not_ an audiophile, but I do want it to sound good.....

Cheers,

Tony
(PS: Is not OT coz is related to my AT, which is allowed on this group!)
