Oh well, you'll just have to resort to plan b:
1/ Get lead singer to fake his own death.
2/ Let it be known that his angst-ridden life is described thru the
tortured
lyrics of the bands album due out soon
3/ Have someone write a biography of the guy.

2/ and 3/ above will generate huge revenues from the public facination with
the macabre, then

4/ A year later, someone 'finds' said lead singer wandering around with no
memory of the past year.
Apart from fees for chat show appearances to explore the missing year, the
comeback tour will be a sellout :->

You'd charge 50p or something for ppl to download the artwork, or 1.00/1.50
for you to send it to them.....

Of course, all this does end up with music being devalued and seen as a
free
commodity,

A cynic might argue that the true arist just wants to express him/herself,
not make a pile of cash :-)

friends who don't
>buy CD's now, they just deal in CDR's and MP3's, much like I did with
cassettes I >suppose!

I dunno. I mean, we all used to do a little tape copying @ school, but if
I
didn't do that, I probably wouldn't have bought the album. If I liked it,
I'd probably end up buying it anyway to have a (relatively) hiss-free copy.

These days, with MP3's freely availabe & a broadband connection, I
could
easily never buy another album again. But I can afford them and I like to
have to physical CD, the cover art etc, so am happy to buy CD's (though
online, not from rip-off retailers!).
Occasionally I ahve downloaded a track and bought the album on the strength
of it, but that is very rare indeed.....

One thing that really annoys me about anti-priacy lobbyists is that there
is
this assumption that they are 'losing all that revenue' because of pirates.
Sure in the case of large scale piracy where fakes are being sold as the
genuine article, but is it really true to say that ppl who download MP3's
would actually buy these albums if MPPs were not available? Not
necessarily
- some ppl download MP3's simply because they are there to download, others
because they cannot afford the album in the shops - either way, they are
unlikely to buy the album in the shop! Same with software piracy - how
many
ppl have downloaded Adobe Premier or something just to try it because they
could? How many would actually have bought it? Very few.

Same thing with the recent moans over millions inlost revenue due to mobile
phone ringtones not being licensed - do the PRS etc _really_ thing all
those
ppl would download 4 or 5 irritating tunes to their phones @ a couple of
quid a pop? No chance - so no lost revenue! Greedy b'stard!
