RE: KAT5 Website Updated

Title: Message
I was wondering why they hadn't been mentioned in HCC or HE, but that's fair enough - Keith you need to employ a shed load of assembly elves to knock out the units to the masses.......

An alternative would, of course, be to sell to a mass manufacturer.
Has anyone heard of the Silver Slider?  A replacement CF sleeve for the Compaq iPAQ.  Developed by a guy (george) in his spare time, v.popular as a lot smaller than Compaq's version & sexy looking to boot!
He teamed up with pdamotion who now do a mass produced version of this.  George presumably gets royalties or something on the units, meanwhile still does his own version and he has produced other variations on the theme.
PDAMotion AFAIK, only have the rights to a particular model, so best of both worlds for George - he gets an income stream from the mass market ones, but also continues his sideline of hand crafted ones & newer versions.

Nirvis, I believe, have come to a similar sort of deal with Microsoft over the slink-e units.

This could be a way forward for Keith - mass production would gain him exposure & dosh & create a market for both the standard units & custom jobbies for 'special needs' ppl like those on the HA list :-)

Hey Keith - if you need a business manager..... :]

The only reason I mention it, is that I'm meeting with my mate soon who does custom HA installs. I'll ask him

Be carefull on this one ... (I'm only responding here because I know Keith is restricted at work as to how much access he has to email at work) ... I have a friend in a similar position who does shitloads of high end installs and another who writes features for Home Cinema Choice and they were both lined up. The installer loves these units (but is waiting for IR return to be implemented) and the feature writer had done a news feature on the KAT5's and was ready to submit it and I just thought I'd check with Keith first but he wanted to keep the units low key for the time being...
