Which AP - have you boosted the radio output and tried again ?

OK here's the results of the test. The AP is located in the front
bedroom, not ideally located but ok.

Out the rear (coming through about 3 walls) you can get a total
distance of about 25 metres from the AP before you get enough packet
loss to slow it down.

Out the front (coming through one wall), I was off and across the
road and down the street opposite before the connection slowed
significantly.  About 35 metres.

But to be fair to it I'm not very patient.  It managed to load Mark's
site at the bottom of the garden (120 feet) after about 30 seconds
wait on about the third attempt (its normally loads instant with the
cable modem).  I didn't get far enough away for it to completely lose
the connection.
