Yes, it's something I'm seriously considering.  However, I was thinking
more
of using a compact flash card as it is an IDE interface.  We were having a
big discussion about it on the mailing list for my little project (see sig)
last week.  The only problems are lack of space - 256MB is the biggest I
have seen, and failure rate - CF cards have a limited write cycle.
