Re: SLinkE Best Practices...

Yep, Slinke will route IR autonomously.  Once you set the routing matrix up, it stays with the slinke.  IR forwarding isnt a PC based function.

I use mine for driving CD multichangers.  Its on the "main" (currently only, but there are plans afoot...) Xantech IR circuit, and it forwards locally to an emitter sitting next to an X10 IR interface.

If your new to slinke theres a gotcha - to make slinke decode IR you have to enable recption in the routing matrix.   Also, a good place to visit is http://www.the-gordons.net; Gordon has written some software that converts between several IR formats, including slinke.

Hi

Has anyone got a Nirvis slink-e ?

Wondering what people use if for - the controls/slink stuff or just infrared ? Curious- can you route infrared WITHOUT being attached to a pc (dumb repeater) ?

I have one - bought of andy brown - used it for the cd changer - but now using the delights of my ddar, and has sort of made it redundant.

I've just made up some rj11 <>rj45 sockets to I can extend the reach, so I'll try that, if it works, make more up - I have 7 free ports.
