According to the FSB, there is a get out, you have to petition that court
that fulfilling Jury Duty would cause excessive hardship on you.

Hope I don't ever have to argue the case. I doubt I would make the most
impartial Juror!

I've evaded it so far despite being called twice!

The last time I didn't even know about it until the morning I was
supposed to be in court, the guy on the phone told me it was alright as
loads of people had turned up so it wasn't a problem. I got the
impression that it was not unusual for very few people to turn up!

Like you I run my own business and simply cannot afford to lose that
time or I could lose my livelihood. Next time perhaps I'll inquire what
the stiffest penalties are in the cases and mention that payback is due
for atrocities carried out on me and my family ;-)
