I gave up in disgust with the HPT366 on my BP6 board in my
Server box. Bunged in a Promise card and other than the system
not booting up the first time anymore (I have to turn the box off
[hold-hold-hold the power button] and then shortly back on again)
it's worked perfectly.

I'd probably try an unbranded one next time to see if that initial turn
on problem is a Promise induced error.

A friend had terrible grief with lost partition table information and
such like with a later Highpoint controller. I believe he too went out
and bought a Promise controller and hasn't mentioned it since.
Thus...
