Re: Re: RS232 or RF X10?

The American systems are generally on 418Mhz if my memory serves me right.

You can still use this in the UK but 433 is now the preferred frequency due to interference around the 418 band. I know, cos my weather station currently uses 418Mhz and I often get errors in the transmission.

Yes please Gareth.

I’ve just looked at the floor plan, and if I use the RF receiver in the PC the longest run will be 7metres. I’ll check on the Radio Agency’s web site to see what that freq is allocated to. It may be that it is used in mainland Europe but not in the UK.

If I can get it to work I can then use the Omni II (www.homeauto.com) as the HA controller which supports extended dim etc AND has decent X10 support, using the RF keypads to generate macros.

How long do the batteries last?

Tim.

All mine are US based. 40x I think - EU units are 433Mhz. I can check if you like...

So I suppose the answer is to use the Homeseer RF receiver and buy some
US RF pads. What frequency do they operate on?

Tim.

I've got Homeseer, and although I haven't actually tried this out, I
can't see why it won't work.

At the moment you're going:

IR -> X10 -> Homeseer -> X10 -> Devices

You've got two sets of X10 delays in there. So how about putting an
IR receiver onto a serial port on the Homeseer machine, which would
give:

IR -> Homeseer -> X10 -> Devices

Should cut down your delay!

Alex
