Cost is important. Weight and size are critical. I don't like the idea of
using a hard drive since I'm not convinced I could shock protect one
enough.
Compact Flash looks intriguing and I did come across a device that
basically
streams data from analogue and digital inputs directly to a CF card. It did
however cost a lot :-(

Do you have any details on interfacing the Rabbit to an IDE drive? I have a
feeling that interfacing to a CF card is a very similar process?

To be honest, I'd have thought that an old laptop, perhaps suitably
mounted in a shock resistant cage, might be a better bet for this
kind of application? Or are cost & weight critical considerations
here?
