Thanks for the reply. Hopefully they'll hsave a few 60Gb Barracudas in
stock.
Though I think I'll leave it until the new year now...

Cheers.

as it happens - yes.

I had a 30GB drive which failed (and no, I did not have a complete backup of
some of the vital data on it).  I went to the web site & packaged it up as
requested, sent it off via the post office (about ?8).  They got it 2 days
later.

Unfortunately, they did not have the replacement drive in stock, so it was
about 3 weeks before they sent the new one out to me.  Had it been in stock
I would have had the drive returned within about 6 working days from
dispatch.

Had a hiccup with the Seagate Barracuda hard drive in my media server
recently, when a couple of bad spots appeared while copying some
files about.

Finally got round to looking at it last night and ran the Seagate
SeaTools Online diagnostic utility, it took one look at the drive and
announced it was broken and could totally fail at any moment. :(

Fortunately, the online warranty check reports that the drive has
lots of warranty left. :)

So, has anyone returned a drive to Seagate directly recently? What
happened? And how long did it take?

(I bought the drive from either Dabs or Ebuyer - both of which I've
returned stuff to before - neither was a pleasant experiance!)
