There are lots of ways of doing this - Personally, I bought a multi zone am= p from the US (Kustom 6640). It's controlled in each room by a wall control= ler connected by Cat5. Also has IR distribution and a paging and door bell = input (so you can mix in a PC source such as voice synthesis). Cost was aro= und =A31500 with all the bits I think (can't remember exact price - but it'= s a lot cheaper than most dedicated UK systems I've seen). A few people her= e have built up 'home brew' systems - I'm sure they'll reply to you :-)
