I bought a SPL meter from Keene Electronics (www.keene.co.uk) - you need
th=
e analogue version (SLM2050 - =A324.99 inc VAT - Radio Shack meter) as the
=
digital ones tend to be too quick for this type of measurement. It's
amazin=
g how 'out' my system was that was tuned by ear.
I've just bought a new set of 5.1 B+W speakers (CM6 x 2, CM2x2, CMC and a
5=
00W CMASW - amazing bass!) - they take a while to run in, so the levels
wil=
l change a lot over the next few months - therefore worth buying a meter I
=
think.
I also have the Avia, Ultimate DVD and THX demo/setup discs - email me off
=
list if you're interested.
Paul.

The proper way to do it is to use a sound pressure meter although I
find
my ears incredibly useful for that very task ;)
Either that or invite Phil round with his pressure meter.
