The Music collection I have here in MP3 format would take about 2.6
Terabytes raw, and would (to my ears) sound no better.

I would ask the question the other way round to be honest...

Why, in this age when we understand just how limited the range of
hearing is
that humans possess, as we condiering using even more data bits (SACD,
DVDA
et al) to "reproduce" a sound that existed nowehere except in
an
engineer's
desk anyway?

As always, if you believe you have ears more sensitive than a bat, you
should spend the cash you feel comfortable with!!
