Actually, he claimed that your *opinion* was that of your employer. The only
reference to "legal advice" in his statement, was a rather unfortunate snip
of your original message, resulting in your sentence ending in "legal
advice" appearing at the start of his quoted context. Please make sure your
claims are accurate when disputing the giving of legal advice, especially
when said advice is purportedly on behalf of one's employer ;)

That statement is just missing the "bottom of the ocean being a good start"
punchline :)

I think it more like the warning on prescription medication. "Do not give
this medicine to anyone else even if they appear to have the same symptoms".
Legal cases, while drawing on the same knowledge base, statutes and case
law, can have very different outcomes even though on the surface they look
the same. The lack of material facts would make the original statement very
difficult for anyone to comment on in a qualified manner, especially in a
"public" forum.

There is one other, quite obvious, conclusion one could draw from the lack
of "professional" input.

I share your concern. Hopefully the less posted, but more "doomsaying"
messages, expressing how admissable such issues were are sufficient for
people to realise this fact.

How does the saying go about giving someone enough rope? It is never more
true than when faced with "legal action". This does cut both ways of course.

Mark.
