Hi Jason
            My ir system TALKS to HV using i/o pins NOT serial as you have
assumed. As i said to Nik  i asked the question,Was serial required before i
started the design and no one responded so didnt bother ..If you could write
some software which could manipulate the parallel port  i/o and generate the
ir data then its all possible............
