Actually, jsut had a thought (ouch!) and is not far fetched.  This is
how I
did my door bell - expensive yes, far fetched, no.
Took a keyfob remote and a large wireless doorbell push (dontated by
Turtles

the push operates normally to the contacts on the keyfob for the first
device.
Managed to fit it all in the doorbell housing by chopping bits off the
doorbell pcb that wasn't needed (only needed the switch and the bit you
actualyl push) so I have an X10 doorbell.
Could do similar I guess with a nice wandsworth momentary switch and
only
have to bury a backbox rather than having to chase in cables too......

I take your point Andy, and it's a fair comment - though of course as
Gerard
will (unfortunately) attest, some burglars don't give a monkeys if you're
in
and are prepared to commit armed robbery if need be.

Hell, forget pretending to be in etc - just wire all your external
windows
and doors to a 10,000V supply and bring the b'stards on:-)
(It would, of course, be activated by a 'good night' switch somewhere,
so
may be some time before I can implement :-))
