The longest bit of the IPCOP set up is probably downloading it :-)

Duh! I wasn't thinking - of course the satellite connection uses
windows based software (essential to the connection) :(  I wonder if
the software can be used 'further down the line'. I guess I'll only
know if I try it.

Is IPCOP quick to setup? - i.e. if I try it and (as probably will
happen), it doesn't work, I haven't wasted a lot of time.
