I can testify that the areas that J is talking about are very nice, penistone
and surrounds are almost country but a few minutes to the town.  You can go
further out into the country to Last Of The Summer Wine town Holme Firth but
that is quite a run back to Sheffield.  Loads of villages all with pubs, on the
way though.

SWMBO comes from Chapeltown which is town but again only a few minutes to loads
of villages.

't into this
city thing !

I live in a village, wharncliffe side (not so far from stocksbridge) the
major
downfall is that I live on a main road, but, the back garden then drops
down to
the river don, with a very suitable fishing spot, oh.. and there is a load
of
trout in the river too ;o) (and the best part, I got the house £8,000
cheaper
than the valuation, ahh, the joys of buying off the company you work for!
;o)

Not sure what type of property your after, but if you know Penistone, my
boss
has just bought a house out there, 3 bedroomed stone build terraced, I
think he
paid around £80,000 for it? a very nice property indeed!

Checkout some of the estate agents on-line, I think blundells,
merryweathers and
maybe a few others (I'd have to check) ? I'd recommend the outskirts of
Sheffield to anyone who doesn't want city life, but doesn't want to be in
the
middle of no-where (although that's quite possible within 40mins of the
city
centre)

the sticks. I am not really cout out to be a big city type.
