RE: (ukha_d) (OT) How to fit a digital mini dish??
The cowboy method...
Find a house near you with a dish, point yours in the same direction.
Get a
mate to watch the strength meters on the digibox until it levels out at
about
75%. If there's no Sky dishes near you, then I think it's more or
less due east
at a 13 degree angle, but I'm not certain.
There are plenty more scientific ways of doing it, but this way is free
and
works!
Yee haa.

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] How to fit a digital mini dish??
OK this is totally off topic but I reckon someone here will know...
I may be able to get my hands on an out of contract sky digi box
complete with minidish and LNB.
With the free card I'm told I can get a couple of dozen free to air
channels.
Never having had satellite before (I'm on cable) can I try and install
the minidish myself??
How do I know where to point it, do I need special cable from the
minidish to the digibox, do I need any special tools to calibrate it,
etc.??
Any advice much appreciated - I'd hate to pick this up for what I think
is a reasonable amount only to find out it will cost me an arm and a
let
to get it installed by professionals...
Anto.
