Title: [ukha_d] Re: SOM1 relay board switching sound.
Hi Amar

I have ordered the PCB's so assuming no mistakes on my part boards will be available >from ;-))

Details and pictures are on my site at www.mollyology.com then projects and relay board. At the moment it is aimed at HV and Comfort users but I will be putting together a small simple serial interface for it. This latter bit will make it very similar to the unit you have. You can be my beta tester if you like ;-))

The relay board is opto isolated as well so none of that nasty AC stuff going anywhere near your precious PC.

When I was designing my relay board I initially used reed relays which had some problems with things like capacitive loads, AC etc. The relays on the SOM1 look very similar so you may be experiencing similar problems. Check the relays are actually switching off somehow with the speakers connected and showing the problems. Alternatively use one of my boards <grin> which are rated up to 120v AC and everything else you can think of.

Loudspeakers use an AC signal, not DC. There is no concept of a
common ground, so you can't switch it that way.
