Actually Graham, you could probably develop for the most part without the
actual hardware....

You can still run the SliMP3 server perl software, which gives you the
SliMP3 webserver to test against, and there is a command line switch  which
makes it display exactly what is (or should be) on the SliMP3 display in
the
server output window.

In Windows, it runs in a command prompt, (or as a service if you want, but
for development/debugging it's probably best to keep it on the desktop), -
with the display switch turned on, it prints a text-mode copy of the
SliMP3's display in the command window once per second...
