Re: Cabling Question

Its no longer a illegal requirement to run electrical cable (and therefore
any other cable) inside conduit or capping. The benefit of capping however,
is that you can add/remove cables at whim. In practise however, this is often
not as simple as it may seem. In my instance the walls run out (old house
built in the 30s) and so using conduit or capping is inpracticle with every
run of cable, time consuming and adds extra cost.  If your considering the
safety aspects of conduit, then forget it. If your using a drill on the wall
it will run through the conduit like a knife through butter.
Cable clips are often more than sufficient in keeping your cable in position
whilst replastering.

Anyway. Do whatever your comfortable with. If you have time, money, patience
and your lucky enough to have perfectly formed walls, then use conduit on
every run. Otherwise dont give it a second consideration.
