Paul,

The Outlook plugin was written for two reasons.

1: 'Cos it did what I wanted :-)
2: As a proof of concept.

I need to make it, not a VBA App in the Outlook context, but a standalone VB app that talks MAPI directly. (So I can support the port listener for "heart beat" compliance.)

If that happens, then it becomes a "mini app" that could (for a single user) run on the eMail _server_

I don't know if MAPI allows concurrent connections from different apps to the same server as DIFFERENT user context. If it does, then multiple copies of the app, one for each user, could run on the server. (Paul G - do you know this?)

M.

I can see how it might be a flag within the Outlook plugin. As such, it's up to the Outlook plugin developer (oh - that's me)
sorry to keep poping out of the woodwork to suggest things for other people to do but I don't have to the necessary skills to write software (this was proven at uni when one project was to do code to control a ped X, if my code had been implemented the death toll would have been horrendous, lol) but could the outlook pulgin be modified to work directly from Exchange or other (preferably exchange tho as I have that :-) ) to notify presence of email in different users accounts.

I guess the current model relies on user computer being on 24/7 or at least on when house occupied to work, in my case if I have to go and switch a computer on so the wall can tell SWMBO she has mail I won't win many brownie points but if when SWMBO arrives home she sees a message on the display as she disarm the alarm loads a points.

Also in case of an urgent mail is there anything in the protocol to allow the inclusion of say senders name or subject line in the message that appears, I don't know about you guys but I know several people who think if they don't mark it urgent it'll take a week to arrive!

Enough of my ramblings, so far this looks really good

Regards

Paul
