I've been searching around trying to find some epods or fuji's to act as
"control" panels in each room. The idea being that instead of installing
volume controls/light switches and any number of other local control
devices I could have one "soft" panel in each room that could act as a
programmable interface to all HA and Audio stuff. Also means that
because the control is central (i.e. the panels are just display
devices) I could have better control .. for example if someone left the
volume turned up in a different room I can turn it down/off from the
room I'm currently in, or have the HA server turn off and reset the
volumne in every room at midnight etc. Anyway the point is can I find
any touch sensitive panels.. no.. well not a cheap enough price anyway.
(I've got a maximum of 13 rooms and two hallways to do.. so the cheaper
the better !) I saw in Dixon's today that they are selling some PalmTop
handheld organiser/pc for £99 each...since it has a touch sensitive
screen and
(presumably) is programmable, I wondered if it would be possible to
stuff one into a case to mount in the wall and use a piece of cat5 as a
simple serial cable back to node0..

..anybody ever done anything like this before ? any comments ?
