I'm attempting to do just what you're trying to do, albeit up to a
friends house further up the road from me. We tried it one way but
whilst it worked fine, we think we've broken something, so we're
trying it another way.

Yes, that's right. Except that there is now a new v2.2 revision of the
Linksys WAP11 out: 256bit WEP, web browser configuration, and a new
logo being some key new features that I recall. Hopefully they've
fixed the SNMP support (passwords problem) and IP/MAC address
filtering is possible via the USB interface now.

If it works ... ?

Email this chap:

This is the guy that supplied me with some antenna, cables, pigtails
etc. Everything I needed to wireless link me and a friend together. He
was very, very helpful. I can highly recommend him.

We were getting a 6Mbps link between our houses when it was working.
We're now trying two Linksys WAP11's, one at each end, bridging
between the houses.

Sadly I have an older WAP11 than my friends (the v2.2 sitting on my
desk) so I'm not entirely sure if they'll happily talk to each other
yet. Might have to upgrade my own WAP11.
