Widescreen switching signals - followup

This was mentioned recently on the group, with someone providing a link to<= BR> www.amcro.co.uk for their device that inserts a W/S signal on line 23 for those devices that don't do pin8 switching/or where you simply are not usin= g
scart at all.

This is the reply I had when asking about price - bloody expensive :-(

Tony

The Type 208 is currently =A3120 +VAT in one-off quantities, which
includes a "power-plug" type DC adapter. Delivery is 4 weeks from=
receipt of order.

A new feature available on this unit is the ability to select two modes. The original mode signals 16:9 anamorphic content to a WS TV, the new
second mode signals 16:9 letter-boxed content, causing the target TV to
select full width with stretched height to fit the picture to the
screen.  This can be used, for instance, with a Sky digibox, which can=
be set up to letter-box WS pictures whilst still signalling the presence of WS material on the SCART pin 8. Although this results in a more
visible line structure, a tape recorded with this technique will give a
viewable letter boxed picture on a 4:3 TV and a full screen image on a
WS TV.
