Mark

You'll find they call it a wireless router becuase they normally can be also plugged into a cable connection, and they do full NAT, DHCP, etc. But they are still an AP bridge.

There's a guy in my team over here on secondment from the US, and he purchased (last week) an 802.11b AP, Cable router all in one - AND it has a rs232 port as a backup , so he plugs his serial ISDN into it - and now it's also an ISDN router. Cost ? $105 (!)

[ukha_d] Wireless AP - Help
.
Category:

Mate in states wants to bring back a wireless AP (preferably Linksys WAP11).
However, all the radio shacks etc only have wireless ROUTERS on the shelves.
Now, there is little difference in the price between the two, but he wants
to know if he can use something like the one in the link below as a wireless
"bridge" between his wired and wireless LAN in the way you can with the
WAP11.  Oh, and that's a cable router, will he be able to use it pluged into
his wired LAN using ICS?

Thanks

M.
