RE:
What's
an iPaq???
Compaq's version of the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) - ie a
competitor to the likes of PalmPilot. The iPaq runs the Microsoft "baby
windows"
thing that used to be called Windows CE, and is now called something like
"Pocket Windows" - probably wrong on the new branding - but a baby version,
stripped down for speed on small devices with
touchscreens.
M.
Sounds Interesting Mark
BTW whats an
iPaq

OK. I think that I'll get a wireless card for my iPaq
and
see whether I can't do something a bit more sophisticated with running
Homevision...
I really should get around to posting the VB code I'm
using to drive HV remotely... it's now interfacing to my web site quite
well
;-)
Regards,
Mark

Sorry,
Should have replied in line. It is really
nasty that Philips have discontinued the Pronto and replaced it with an
inferior product. The only way you can get decent functionality now from
a Philips product is to buy the ridiculously over-priced Pronto-Pro.
I've
made my views on this pretty plain before. Philips had the opportunity
to
make improvements to the product and haven't, whereas Marantz have. I
know they are part of the same group - perhaps that is one reason why I
get so hot under the collar about the Philips attitude on ProntoPro and
Neo.
I've already decided to jump ship to the Marantz RC-5200, but
I'm sure I won't be the last. That does have extra functionality, but
isn't colour. After all who needs a colour remote control?
The
other thing that I'm considering is to use a PocketPC with an Ocelot.
The
only drawback with that is it doesn't have IR for local control
:(
Tim.
