Hi Graham

Hook the signal from the IR +ve into the relay board I am building and
control it as you describe using the output ports of HV. I am not sure but
the board may also be able to be controlled from the digital output ports
(but I am not sure yet).

IR LED's only need two wires. The live feed and a switched ground usually.
This is perfect for the way the relay board works.
