I suppose that, once you scan finger, it converts that image in some strings and encrypts it.
We just need to get hold of that resulting data (file) and store that into some simple database with two columns: fingerprint and name.
Then, on each scan, it should compare resulting data with data in database. If it finds a match then it starts an action which is associated to that name.
If it doesn't, it just does something default (plays ding.wav).
Fingerprint data is not plain image of the fingerprint, because you cannot lay finger onto the scan in the same way twice. There will always be some difference.
But this software is smart enough to analyze fingerprint and locate key points and simplify all this so resulting data is value of maybe 100 or so parameters.
I think that I remember from TV that police considers that fingerprints are identical if they match in 18 key points.
So we need to collect that filtered and proceessed data, and the rest should be simple...

I sort of half got mine for this.... I got 2, one of which I use at
work, which is f'ing excellent..... I just run the workstation based
stuff, and use it to login to the domain, unlock when I get back to my
desk, login to my email, remember passwords for certain web pages etc,
etc - its great for that!

I've also got one in the house, connected to the laptop, but due to the
size of the parallel port connector, it always manages to stab me in the
knees, so spends most of its time disconnected.

So my conclusions are - fab in office type environments, currently
questionable at home.

Should really look at doing something to interface to them, rather than
just using the Biologin login replacement and Bioshield password
rememberer, but its on the looooooooooooong todo list :)
