My sentiments exactly..
.. there seem to be no sensibly priced options if no adsl as I've
discovered too.
How about setting up a "regularly on" rather than "always
on=

connection by auto dialling & making a connection from your house say

every hour with 5 minute no activity cut off - then you could make
connection from remote location in this time window. Not exactly what
you want but maybe a compromise?
