Err - Calum - I'm trying to help someone else (remotely) get their wf
working
under XP home. I've suggested all the usual (as shown below) but it's
still not
working for him. Any other ideas?
Pete
---------
1. Uninstall any wf software, or better still, use the rollback feature in
XP to
be sure all remnants are removed.
2. Install the Psion s/w using the autoloader from the CD. This is
probably
v1.2 (1.4 is available, but 1.2 works for me).
3. Have the wf plugged directly into a motherboard USB port (ie the back
of
the
PC) if possible. This assumes you have a window near your PC.
4. Ideally your window should face towards your nearest DAB transmitter
-
this
can make a very big difference. Not sure what the website is, but
there is
one
that'll tell you where it is. If you're within 60 miles of London, point
it
in
that direction.
5. Have it bolt upright, make sure the antenna are screwed in tight
(obvious, I
know). The DAB frequency is on a very narrow band, so the length of
the
aerial
is critical (57cm's I think)
6. Ideally it should be a clear day. Rain/fog will reduce the
signal
strength.
7. Let the Psion s/w do the signal strength and search, then close it.
8. Install DABBAR 1.3 (1.3a is available, but 1.3 works for me)
9. Run the DABBAR search

OK..got my wavefinder and got it going under XP (thanks Calum).
I can stream DAB radio nicely across my LAN now. I've tried it on
the
iPAQ too but it doesn't know what to do with either of the files WinDAB
or DabBar produce (.m3u & .pls)
Is there an iPAQ version of any winamp compatible software to play
these
with?
Thanks
M.
