If
someone can ensure we have a pair of powered speakers it would be
good.
I
hope
to bring a clonky old laptop to demonstate my web based Jukebox. It will
have a
VERY limited choice as it only has a couple of gig of space but should
prove the
concept nicely. Might also be a bit slow as the laptop is a P166 with only
48M
ram but it does work, some of the other machines can be used as the clients
provided they have MSIE and a current version of MediaPlayer
installed.
Getting excited now :-)

Right, Im happy to
provide
the infrastructure for this if someone can help me move the stuff from
my
flat to the pub. I have a sparc running dhcp services, a wireless
point i dont mind reconfiging and the switch which i can just set all
ports
to auto on. Does that sound any good? Likewise its also
running
a mock server so if anyone wants music i can bring a ddar
and speakers.
Thanks
kieran

Yes, with only an hour before the
hoardes
arrive, we'll have to get our skates on..
First, I think we
should
agree what we want to try to set up...
a) Obviously we will want a
10/100 wired network, b) Do we want to try to set up a WiFi network as
well? c) Presumably we will require DHCP services and so on d) We'll
require a machine to host Ian's HDD's with the MP3 archive on
Keiran
is
also nearby, available, and ready to assist... - K, I think your Cisco
switch would be our preferred option at the mo...
I reckon we'll
need
at least one server setup to do (c) and (d) above, - I can take care of
that if required, - I can build a W2K server in advance with DHCP
scopes
configured and so on... and just plug it in on the day.
For a
wireless
setup, - who has the "easiest" WAP to provide? - mine's not *too* bad
(not
hidden in the loft or anything), but I'd need to totally reconfigure
it, -
turn off WEP, turn off MAC filter, change ESSID and so on... - if
anyone's
got one that's not yet "in live use" that would save me this
hassle...

Or
it
could be moved to Kierans.... (I just *know* I've spelled that
wrong!)
