A little optimistic there m8, but I see what you mean.
The Linn system is way more sophisticated than the situation you describe with the Rio's, and a not insignificant part of the budget goes towards the=
multiroom-ness of the system rather than the music server per se.
Of course, the Linn stuff is _vastly_ overpriced even if the quality is
going to be a vast inprovement on that of the Rios.

There are (at least) two problems with Linn IMO:
1. The multiroom stuff is still priced as it was back in '94 (?) when it originally came out - ie v.expensive, specialised components blah blah.
I'm sure you could build the RCU's (really just a dot matrix display and a<= BR> few buttons in essence) for a hell of a lot less now than you could then. They still retail at 399 ffs!
2. Partly related to 1 I'm sure - Linn see themselves as high end
specialists and as such, charge a premium to reflect the market they are aimed at - after all, if you are Mr Moneybags, you'll probably think you're=
getting a better system if you spend 40k on it than if you spend 4k on it.<= BR> Unless of course you're an eccentric, in which case you'll spend 0.04k on i= t
:-)

Tony
