Alan,
If you do not have your Access Point runing as a DHCP server and you
don't have a DHCP server on your network then you need to use a fixed
ip address.
A DHCP server will dish out ip addresses.
If you are going to use fixed ip addresses then I'd stick to
192.168.0.nnn
Your machine is basically failing to contact a DHCP erver using
information that it has from a previous request for an Ip address, so
it's telling you but keeping the address and using it..
make sense?
