It's a good question Mark but one I don't have the answer to.  How could I
find out - I don't mind opening it up - but I need to know what to look for
to tell the difference.
Depending on which type it is, would that influence if I could use a AM or
LM.  It seems Phil is apposed to the idea of the LM presumably due to the
load of the electric blanket ( I don't know what the load is but if is
between - say 50W & 100W would it be ok to use a LM?) I don't want to
fry
myself or the LM :)

Pedro,

Does it control the amount of heat, or does it actually operate a
thermostat
causing it to cut in/out?

Hi all

I'm thinking of automating my electric blanket but have some doubts as to
the best method.  Could I use a LM and use the dimming function to control
the amount of heat dissipated by the electric blanket or would I be limited
to using an AM.  My electric blanket has a 0 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 0
"switch" on the
cord to control the level of heating so in theory the "element"
can handle
not being on full power.
