My preferred supplier is laser.com ... nothing against letsautomate but Mike gets a good old bite of the cherry so I try to plug Laser.com whenever I can and I've had nothing but good dealings with them.

 

What you need is an IR543 IR->X10 transceiver (about £30) or the IR543AH All Housecode version if you're going to get into X10 in a big way (about £65) and a UM7206 Universal Module ... then wire the two terminals that go to the soft power terminals on the mainboard to the relay outputs on the UM7206 (£35) and you should be able to remote power on the PC by sending an X10 on command to the universal module.

Go down the X10 route. If your BIOS supports start on plugging power use an appliance module else one of the relay closure modules bridged accross the switch wires. You would have to know that the release command had been received though otherwise your button will remain pressed in.
